Authors Jocko Willink and Leif Babin wrote the original book having gained real life experience working together in the US SEALs. After leaving the SEALs they "founded the leadership consultancy firm Echelon Front to bring the leadership lessons of the SEALs to the private sector". In this Instaread summary (think DETAILED review) which is a little longer than usual, the reader is presented with 12 Key Takeaways. Here are three to whet your appetite:

We all know how important cover is in military maneuvers but how about in the business world?
A great book for leaders with much practical advice. With the original book at 317 pages, this Instaread summary is a great option for those who want/need to know what the original book is all about and get a gist of some great leadership qualities. This is NOT a book!

Be warned: This is not really a book and there are no descriptions of combat. Instead it is a very thin, 31 page (large type) book of leadership points. I have purchased and read many great books from Amazon. This is not one of them. The two authors are highly decorated SEAL veterans of the Iraq war. The points they make are certainly relevant, but none are of the "that's something I had never thought about" type. I was shocked when I received this as I had thought it would be a book with some interesting stories and post-op analysis. Unfortunately, I can not recommend it. Amazon should have done a better job of explaining that this was not a book. I was going to return it, but because I only paid $7.00, I didn't bother.
